Caring
and Support
We
all need support now and then, and Genevans are known for their big hearts
and willingness
to come to the aid of members and the community
when it is needed most. If you find yourself, or someone you know, in a position
where there is seemingly no way out, we want you to know that you are not
alone. Through the following groups, help is only a phone call away.
For
assistance, or if you are interested in becoming a part of any of these
ministry teams, please contact Pastor Emily McColl at (949) 837-4765, ext. 210, or emccoll@genevapres.org.
Board
of Deacons
These Geneva members engage in a variety of ministries
which focus on sharing the compassion of Christ
when it is needed most. For more information about the Deacons, please contact Moderator Wendy McCalley at wendyannmccalley@cox.net.
Flower
Ministry
Prepares and distributes chancel flowers after Sunday services
and at Easter and Christmas to people who are ill, homebound,
grieving, celebrating, or “just because”.
Homebound
Communion Ministry
Homebound Communion Ministry is offered to all of our Homebound in May and at World Communion Sunday, by request at other times.
Parish
Ministry
Assures
that each member of Geneva
has a Parish Deacon. Deacons provide support and communication
with those in their parish by making telephone calls, sending cards,
or visiting in
the home.
Emergency Assistance Ministry
Deacons also help those in need of emergency assistance. Please contact Deacon Moderator Wendy McCalley or Pastor Emily for more information.
Coping with Divorce Class
A six-week series of support and discussion for those who have already filed for separation or divorce,
usually held after the first of the year. Please contact Pastor Emily McColl at (949) 837-4765, ext. 210, or at emccoll@genevapres.org.
Grief Support
Losing a loved one can be devastating, but God has promised to hold our hand when we walk through tragedy and to guide our thoughts, prayers, emotions and actions. At Geneva, in addition
to providing comfort and a listening ear, we offer a series of six 90-minute meetings which are an action-oriented approach to healing through the
mourning process. For more infomation or assistance, contact Pastor Emily McColl at (949) 837-4765, ext. 210, or emccoll@genevapres.org.
Hospital Visitation Ministry
Provides daily visits for members who are hospitalized.
Prayer Ministry
Provides a daily ministry of intercessory prayers for those who request them. Click here for a direct link to our Prayer Request line.
Stephen Ministry
Some people think our Stephen Ministers are angels in disguise. They may be right. Through confidential, one-on-one care, these specially trained lay ministers have helped many
members of the Geneva family who are experiencing life stresses such as serious illness, job stress, broken relationships,
grief, or family crisis. If you are in need, they want to help. Don't hesitate to ask. For more information contact Dorriene Niedenfuer at golfetc@lworld.net.
V.I.P.s (Visually Impaired People) Classes
A series of 8 classes teaching positive approaches to independent living despite visual loss will be offered here at Geneva for the community. The first topic: “Managing Life With Visual Loss” will be taught by Stephanie Arnold, an instructor from the Braille Institute. Classes will be held in McLennan Lounge. In a Christian setting, those who attend will learn that they are not alone on this journey and adapting is not as difficult as feared. Contact Nancy Hardy at (949) 830-6362, or Pastor Carolyn McOwen at cmcowen@genevapres.org.
