Music

"Worship the Lord with gladness; come into his presence with singing."

..........................................................................................................Psalm 100.2

When new members are asked what initially attracted them to Geneva, they often comment on our welcoming atmosphere or variety of worship services, but the most common response is, "we love the music!"

At Geneva, we believe music has the power to ignite the flame of the Holy Spirit within each of us. Therefore, not only are we committed to providing music which inspires and enhances our worship services, it's not uncommon to hear voices raised in praise during the Sunday educational hour, Wednesday night children's LOGOS program, or any other time Genevans get together. We are also proud of our commitment to developing "home grown" talent by encouraging members with musical gifts.

Chancel Choir
Our adult chancel choir, conducted by Alvin Brightbill (see "Meet Al Brightbill" at right) is committed to enhancing the traditional worship experience. Through a community of voices, they are able to create a spirit of worship, which inspires and brings additional meaning to the spoken word. The chancel choir practices each Thursday evening and sings regularly at the 11:00 am traditional service. We welcome anyone (there are no auditions). If you are interested in adding your own voice to this amazing group, contact Joanna Capelle at capellej@scrra.net.

Children's Choirs
Choir is an excellent way for kids to share their faith and love of Jesus through music. Participants also gain self-confidence, learn teamwork, develop friendships and increase their musical and vocal skills - all in an encouraging and caring environment. Geneva children's choirs participate regularly in Sunday worship services, and in special Christmas and spring programs. To learn how your children can participate in the following programs, please contact the church office:

Chorister Choir (Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd Grade)
Rejoice Choir (Grades 3 through 5)
Youth Ensemble (Middle and High School)

Handbell Choir
You'll be amazed and inspired by our delightful handbell choirs, both of which are directed by our very talented soprano soloist, Eileen O'Hern, and perform regularly in our traditional worship service. For more information, contact Eileen at augvox@yahoo.com.

Geneva Carillon - For more experienced musicians. The Carillon rehearses at the church every Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 PM .

Beginners Carillon - For those with little or no experience, who would like to explore this area of ministry. The music is less complicated and easy to master. This class is offered from time to time. For more information, contact Eileen at augvox@yahoo.com.

Praise Band
You just can't stay seated when you listen to Geneva's Praise Band! These committed and talented singers and musicians, many of whom have grown up in the church, honor God by providing the high quality music which supports the flow and theme of our contemporary service. For more information, contact Steven Stark, Contemporary Worship Leader, at Steven.Stark@us.thalesgroup.com.

Song Leaders
If you can sing or play an instrument, there are many fellowship groups at Geneva that would welcome your talents. Our Middle School "Shine" Group, High School "FLOOD" Group and Sunday Pathfinders group, open to all interested adults, include praise singing as a regular part of their worship format.
