Feet Out the Door
Geneva Presbyterian Church, Fall 2007
Dr. Jeff H. McCrory Jr.
This fall’s sermon series will assist us in engaging the major initiatives resulting from our two year Refocusing process. In January 2006 I cast the vision for Geneva in three statements:
We will be a church
* That has Jesus in our hearts
* That has the Bible in our hands
* That has our feet out the door
This fall we will be working from the last initiative backwards. As our feet move out the door, we will listen to Scripture under the lordship of Jesus Christ.

Jesus in Our Heart
Mark’s Gospel as a Mission Tract for the Church
Winter 2008, Geneva Presbyterian Church
Dr. Jeff H. McCrory Jr.
What if Mark wrote his gospel of Jesus the Messiah for the purpose of equipping congregations to get their feet out the door? And what if the key to understanding Mark’s Gospel is to read it as a church engaged in the mission of God? This winter we will read and preach through the Gospel of Mark from the perspective of missionaries who are being sent by God into our community and world. We will learn how the God who sent Jesus Christ into the world, equips and sends us to declare the reign of Jesus Christ.

The Bible in Our Hands
Reading the Old Testament as Christian Scripture
Dr. Jeff H. McCrory Jr.
Spring and Summer 2008
Synopsis:
This series is designed so that we might read the Old Testament from the perspective that Jesus is Lord. Most Christians don’t read the Old Testament except for Psalms. Early disciples had the Bible, what we call the Old Testament, in their hands as they interpreted God’s presence in Jesus. We will have the same Bible in our hands as we listen for the presence of Jesus in the Genesis story of Joseph (Gen 37-50) and in the prophecy of Amos.
